Leukaemia Foundation

The Leukaemia Foundation was entering a difficult transitional phase when emdf Consultancy Director Elizabeth Davis was appointed to the position of Executive Officer SA/NT in 2006, with all state branches in the process of amalgamating.

During her two years in the role, Elizabeth worked closely with the Foundation's South Australian Board to help the organisation move into a new era as a single national body.

Specifically within the South Australia/Northern Territory region she developed and executed a comprehensive strategic plan that included:

  • A major capital campaign to build an accommodation village in metro-Adelaide for regional patients and their families to use when in town for specialist blood-disease treatment
  • Preparation of grant applications and obtaining major gifts and donations from the corporate sector for the refurbishment of 4 accommodation units.
  • Development of OH&S policies for the safety of patients, families and members of staff at the existing accommodation facilities
  • Overseeing the expansion of human resources within South Australia/Northern Territory
  • Management of all service and fundraising activities within South Australian/Northern Territory
  • Development of strategies to further broaden the knowledge and understanding of the broader community of the services provided by the Foundation.

In this short period the SA/NT region's income was doubled. New procedures for the management of databases, and the further development of relationships within all sectors of the community also helped support national campaigns.
