Climatic Impacts Centre, Macquarie University

Working closely with world-renowned climatologist Professor Ann Henderson-Sellars, emdf Consultancy Director Elizabeth Davis played a key role in the establishment of the Macquarie University Climatic Impacts Centre in the late 1980s.

The Centre's purpose was to bring together international PhD students within the fields of climatology and other earth sciences to work collaboratively to measure the impact of climate change.

Elizabeth's primary tasks were twofold. The first was to prepare and execute effective strategies to encourage outstanding students from all around the world to become involved, and the second was to generate external funding. She was successful on both fronts, with more than 30 students from India, Canada, UK, France, Asia and Australia appointed to the Centre within 24 months, and the Centre becoming self-funded inside three years.
